Cosmetics tubes

The beauty industry today uses a huge number of types of cosmetic packaging. In addition to jars and bottles, the most frequently used ones include cosmetic tubes.

Toothpaste, hand and foot creams, eye creams and many other types of cosmetic products are most often offered by manufacturers in a cosmetic tube. This is not surprising, because a tube for cream is a convenient and practical packaging:

Types of cosmetic tube

Modern tubes (tubes) come in three types: metal, plastic (extrusion) and laminate.

Metal tubes

Metal tubes are usually made of aluminum. An aluminum tube is made by extruding it with a press from a billet (aluminum disk). The advantage of the aluminum tube, compared to other types of tubes, is that it has the highest barrier properties. When squeezed, the aluminum tube does not return to its original state, so air is not drawn inside the tube and the product does not oxidize.

Aluminum tubes are used not only for the production of cosmetics, but are also actively used for the packaging of pharmaceuticals.

Plastic tubes for cosmetics

Plastic tubes, also called extrusion tubes, are made from different types of polyethylene.

They are made of a special resin, which is placed in an extruder and formed into a plastic "sleeve" under the influence of temperature. Then this plastic sleeve is cut into sections of the required length, an arm is welded to them and a neck is formed.

The plastic tube is the most convenient packaging possible. It is seamless, practical and looks very attractive.

Extrusion tubes can be very versatile. They can be made either transparent or opaque, with a glossy or matte finish.

Thanks to the elasticity of the plastic, the tube is not deformed during use. After squeezing out the cream, the plastic tube absorbs air and regains its original shape.

Laminate tubes

Laminate tubes are made from a composite material that combines plastic and aluminum.

The laminate tube is also a very convenient and ergonomic package and, as a rule, it is cheaper than the extrusion tube. The only visible difference is the presence of a seam, although with modern technology they try to make it as neat and inconspicuous as possible.
